Prep for Haul
Owner and yard checklist so pickup day is calm: secure gear, manage fluids, protect canvas, and leave clear access for the truck.

Most haul-day delays are preventable. Loose coolers, half-full livewells, flapping canvas, and blocked marina gates create problems that good prep avoids. Use this checklist from Logi Transports LLC before your Boat Transport Near Me pickup. We may send a load-specific sheet as well — follow both when they differ, and ask if anything is unclear.
Gear and cabin
- Remove or stow loose items: tackle, chairs, PFDs, cleaning supplies
- Latch hatches and lockers; tape or pin anything that rattles open
- Coil dock lines and fenders so nothing can drag or flap
- Remove food and empty trash; haul days can be long in summer heat
Water, fuel, and batteries
Drain livewells and bilges as directed. Do not travel with unnecessary water weight. Fuel level guidance varies by boat and carrier instructions — ask if your confirmation email does not specify. Battery switches should be set per our prep notes; many owners disconnect house batteries for longer highway runs. Label keys and leave them with the authorized contact.
Canvas, towers, and electronics
Fold or remove Eisenglass and canvas that can catch wind. Confirm T-top and arch height against what we quoted. Antennas that push the load over a bridge limit should come down. Cover or protect displays if the yard recommends it. Sailboats: coordinate mast unstepping, boom packaging, and cradle fit with the yard before the truck arrives — see sailboat transport.
Trailer and access
- Confirm tires, lights, and brakes if the boat moves on your trailer
- Clear the path for truck entry; move cars and dumpsters
- Share gate codes and dockmaster contacts the day before
- Be present or designate someone with authority to sign condition notes
